Our charming Shepherd’s Hut, known as The Ghillies Hut, is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a beautiful view overlooking our Fly Fishery leading up through the valley to St. Mildred’s Church in Tenterden. LOCAL SURROUNDINGS
Tenterden is a perfect getaway location, it’s an ideal base for exploring the area by foot, car or cycling. The tree lined High Street has many independent shops, pubs, cafes & restaurents to discover.
Explore our local vineyards – Chapel Down, Biddenden & Gusbourne with their inspiring wine tours. We have many Castles to discover the nearest are Leeds Castle and Bodium Castle. Take a nostalgic steam train ride on the Kent & East Sussex Railway to Bodium Castle which leaves from Tenterden Town and enjoy a picnic in the gardens of the castle. We also have beautiful gardens nearby – Sissinghurst, Great Dixter and Pashley Manor are all well known.
Explore our fantastic Coastline at Rye and Camber Sands with its amazing beach where you can walk for miles and enjoy picnics and watersports. Discover the Nature Reserve at Rye – it’s an ornithologists haven. The historic town of Rye with its fabulous, cobbled streets, independent shops and great pubs.
We have local footpaths and cycling trails on our doorstep which includes the High Weald Walk and Mountain Bike Trails at Bedgebury Park.
FISHING EXPERIENCE
We can offer you an exciting opportunity to learn a new skill set in Fly Fishing.
We are a Trout Fishery as well as a working sheep farm. Our Instructor will teach you how to overhead and roll cast, how to retrieve and land fish, with tackle and fly selection. We have 3 lakes totalling 5 acres of waters all stocked with Rainbow, Brown & Blue Trout which put up a very good fight.
We offer day, half day and evening permits on a catch & release or catch & keep basis.
20% off all fishing permits if you are staying in the Ghillies Hut.
